Company Profile
History
Hertron International was established in 1924, manufacturing chemicals exclusively for the stone and terrazzo industry. To its credit, Hertron has earned eleven U.S. and International patents for its unique products, including the first 4 ever issued for stone restoration by the U.S. Patent Office.
Leadership
Hertron is very different from our competitors in several ways:
- Our competitors rely on the “crystallization process” which uses heavy acids to react with the calcium in natural stone to achieve shine. Over the long haul, the calcium is depleted and increased amounts of acid are used to achieve the same result. The end result is known as a “dead” floor, as shine becomes impossible to achieve (Note: Hertron can restore “dead” floors).
- Hertron’s patented Prime Grind Process is called “vitrification”. Our philosophy is that we do nothing to stone which depletes its natural mineral composition. Instead, we apply chemicals to the stone which, on a molecular level, completes the outer electron shell of calcium; thereby strengthening the stone. The strengthened stone polishes better and is more resistant to abrasion.
- Because of Hertron’s approach to stone (strengthening it, rather than removing calcium from it), our ease of application, training, regional technical support and cost effectiveness, Hertron has won several significant customers including Ritz Carlton Hotels, Four Seasons Hotels, Marriott Corporation and the United States White House.
Philosophy
Our philosophy in entering the janitorial market has been that cleaning contractors are already in commercial and industrial facilities. They also have relationships with these buildings owners and property managers. Why not train them using the equipment they already own to correctly do the stone and terrazzo in the buildings.
To this end, we have developed straight forward training manuals for generic use; specialized training manuals for dealing with specific type of floor – example : terrazzo floor initial restoration, biannual touch-up, weekly and nightly ongoing maintenance procedures, as well as specific training manuals for large customer’s facilities (example: the entire marble program for Ritz-Carlton Hotels).
To the janitorial contractor using our products, this means that the stone floors never have to be stripped, will not scuff and never yellow! Properties are kept in beautiful shape and building owners/property managers stay happy.
